Beware of the Roving Videographer

It’s always a good idea to be aware of the videographer’s whereabouts. He's usually easy to spot because his camera will probably have a bright spotlight glaring at or near you. If you see or sense a bright light heading your way put a smile on your face or begin talking to the person next to you to show the bride and groom that you are enjoying yourself. People almost never look good eating on camera so that’s why I didn’t suggest that you begin eating.

Remember, you don’t want to be the one person caught on the final wedding video with a look of disgust, horror or just a rather unpleasant look on your face.

Hello, I follow you on Twitter and your tweet prompted me to read your blog post. I would say overall good advice. In general I would recommend having a good time, smiling, and chatting with other guests as part of a good effort to actually have a good time at a wedding. I don't think "faking it" just for the camera will do the trick if you aren't hving a good time it will probably be apparent regardless of the effort putforth. I will give on genuine piece of advice for looking your best on camera... Don't chew gum. You wouldn't believe how many brides and bridesmaids we recommend not chewing gum because it looks really terrible on video. During preparations, ceremony, or reception... I recommend spitting out the gum on the wedding day. One final mention... Most good videographers will not use big blaring spotlights at a wedding. Big blaring lights coming towards a guest especially if they are eating probaby designates a lower budget videographer. An upscale or high end videographer works with sophisticated lighting or none at all. Thanks for your article!

We use lights designed for dark reception situations. We can light the dance floor, people giving speeches, flower toss, cake cutting and dancing without any complaints.

Make sure your videographer has a plan for lighting.
